The CIC is comprised of the communities of Chignik Bay, Chignik Lagoon, Chignik Lake, Ivanof Bay and Perryville. The tribes from our communities have relied on salmon for millennia, and salmon are our mainstay for commercial and subsistence purposes and central to our cultural practices.

Our mission is to protect the sustainability and viability of the Chignik commercial and subsistence fisheries and its members’ social and economic interests and providing necessary assistance to the tribes and local communities whose economic, social, and nutritional well-being depend upon those fisheries.

Chignik Forever: a film about the community and the Alaska Coastal Cooperative

In 2018, the Chignik area saw the first of several fishing disaster declarations, and has been working to redefine its economy since. This film highlights these challenges and the communities’ resolve to carry on in the face of a changing environment and socio-economic factors.
